Description
Kakushigoto is a shounen/slice of life manga series serialized on Kodansha’s Gekkan Shounen Magazine created by the popular artist Kouji Kumeta, the same creator behind Joshiraku and Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei.
Kakushigoto is an ongoing series with 10 volumes released in Japan while Kodansha USA is releasing an English translation in a digital edition. (Official website)
The tenth volume of the manga announced that an anime adaptation is in production by studio Ajia-Do.
Why it could be interesting?
Kouji Kumeta is the writer and original creator of the popular series Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei that received numerous adaptations by studio SHAFT and is one of their most popular anime: Kakushigoto takes a lot from Zetsubou Sensei especially if you look at the drawings and character designs of both series.
I’ll admit that I was hoping for another adaptation by studio SHAFT considering the stunning PV they produced in 2016 to celebrate the release of the first tankobon but nevermind, it’d still be interesting to see another work of Kumeta adapted.
Talking about the staff behind the anime we have studio Ajia-Do that recently produced “Ascendance of a Bookworm”, “How Not to Summon a Demon Lord” Director Yuuta Murano and the music is produced by SHAFT affectionate Yukari Hashimato, creator of the OST of 3-gatsu no Lion.
The real surprise comes when looking at the voice actors: Hiroshi Kamiya ( Nozomu from Zetsubou Sensei, Levi Ackerman from AoT ) will play the father Kakushi Gotou while Rie Takahashi ( Emilia from Re:Zero and Mash from FGO) will be the daughter Hime Gotou.
Synopsis
Kakushi Gotou, a manga artist who draws a somewhat vulgar manga, has his only daughter, Hime-chan, as a top priority. One of his biggest fears is that her daughter could find out his real job. “If she knew I was a manga artist, maybe my daughter would hate me!?”. With help from his assistants and editor, he tries to pass his days without revealing his secret to her.

Simulcast streaming and dub version announced by Funimation
Funimation announced the official simulcast streaming for Kakushigoto with english subtitles and an upcoming dubbed version that will air this spring.
Opening and Ending songs announced
A new announcement has been made by the official Kukushigoto website revealing that the japanese rock band flumpool will play the opening theme “Chiisana Hibi (ちいさな日々)” / (Small Days) while Eiichi Ohtaki has composed the ending theme “Kimi wa Tenneniro (君は天然色)” / (You Are Natural Color).
The ending song full version will ship on May 27 with an official cover art with the characters from the anime.

Full voice actors cast revealed
The official website for the anime adaptation of Kakushigoto revealed the full cast of voice actors that will be part of the anime; some of the most famous names are:
Yasuno Kiyono (Megumi Katou from Saekano) will be one of Kakushi assistants, Rasuna Sumita,
Ayane Sakura (Mitake Ran in BanG Dream and Ochako in My Hero Academia) will play Ami Kakei,
Ayumu Murase (Hinata from Haikyuu !!) will be Kakeru Keshi.
New Character Key Visual and short PV released
The official website of Kakushigoto posted a short video about the other main character of the series Hime Gotou, voiced by Rie Takahashi. A new key visual of the character appeared on the website.
New Key Visual, Broadcasting information and short PV
The official website of the upcoming anime Kakushigoto posted a new short video of the main character Kakushi Gotou voiced by Hiroshi Kamiya. A new key visual with the same characters were unveiled along with broadcasting information.
The official air date is set for April 2 2020.
Cast Members, Key Visual and PV revealed
The January 2020 issue of Monthly Shounen Magazine revealed the main cast of Kakushigoto and the first Key Visual of the anime that will be produced by studio Ajia-Do.
A teaser of Kakushigoto was released by Avex and the premiere date is set for April 2020.
