Mai Sakurajima Figure (Kotobukiya) 1/8

About this Figure

This is without doubt my favorite figure of Mai Sakurajima and probably the most complex in terms of sculpting compared to other figures produced by other companies: what I like most about it is the dynamic pose with Mai sitting on a desk while wearing her bunny ears. The only downside is that it comes in a reduced size of 1/8 but it works well with this pose and helps making the price more acceptable.

“Seishun Buta Yaro follows the story of high schooler Sakuta Azusagawa, who meets “bunny girl,” former actress, and upperclassman Mai Sakurajima in the school library. As the two get closer, Mai starts to show the protagonist her playful side, and this new Ani*Statue by Kotobukiya depicts the bunny girl caught in one of these moments!

Perched on a school desk, Mai lifts her bunny headband with an impish smile. The curves of her outstretched leg are highlighted by the translucent coloring of the black tights she wears with her school uniform.

Kotobukiya

The first 1/8 figure of Mai Sakurajima was sculpted by the hands of Shirahige Tsukuru, a well-known sculptor that previously worked with Kotobukiya producing more than one hundred figures. Most of his works center on characters from Evangelion and Yu-Gi-Oh but also new series like Kakegurui; he is credited as the original sculptor of the recent figures of Yumeko Jabami (HERE) and Mary Saotome.

A limited version sold through Kotobukiya official shop comes with a bonus face showing Mai’s pout expression. This 1/8 figure of Mai is part of the ANI*STATUE product line of Kotobukiya
